Driver arrested after skipping checkpoint

A Mount Olive man who attempted to avoid a DWI checkpoint Monday now faces weapons and drug charges after K-9 officers with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office tracked him down.
Daniel Ray Boseman, 30, ran from his vehicle after deputies witnessed him turn in to a subdivision to avoid the checkpoint and initiated a traffic stop, according to a press release.
Deputies smelled marijuana in the car and asked Boseman to get out of the vehicle, at which point he took off on foot.
Sheriff's deputies and Mount Olive police officers teamed up to track Boseman, who was eventually located with the help of K-9 Motsie and her handler Deputy Billy Rivenbark.
Boseman is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, heroin and marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance, resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, driving while license revoked and carrying a concealed weapon. His bond is set at $25,000 secured.
