Second suspect sought in case

A second suspect is being sought in the Feb. 25 shooting of Demetrius Montray Kornegay, 29, outside his residence at 105-B S. Harding Drive.
Kornegay survived a severe gunshot wound to the leg after being flown to Vidant Medical Center in Green-ville.
One suspect, Demar Worrell, 34, of Greensboro, in custody since the night of the incident, also was shot during what police have said was a robbery.
The second suspect, Ryan Jermine Allen, 35, 301 S. Oleander Ave., escaped after the vehicle he was driving, a stolen black Chrysler 300 belonging to the victim's girlfriend, crashed into a tree in the 700 block of South Harding Drive.
Worrell and Allen allegedly robbed Kornegay, burglarized his home and then stole the car.
Police captured Worrell as he tried to flee on foot. He was found to be suffering from a graze wound to the abdomen.
The police officer pursuing the Chrysler when it crashed failed to put his vehicle in park when he stopped to chase the suspects fleeing on foot.
His cruiser then rolled into the back of the Chrysler.
Worrell is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, second-degree burglary, larceny of a motor vehicle, and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, for which his bond was set at $775,000 secured. Additional charges against him include resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, which carried $3,000 and $10,000 secured bonds, respectively.
Allen is currently being sought for his involvement in the case. He is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached.
