The two winners in the Muddy Vehicle Contest were sophomore Trey Pate, left, and junior Noah Blackman.

Despite a rainy morning, Southern Wayne High School still had five students with muddy enough vehicles for a Muddy Vehicle Contest held last Wednesday during FFA week. The two winners were sophomore Trey Pate and junior Noah Blackman. The first-place winner, Pate, ran his Chevy Tahoe through a garden and a swamp with a few friends to get his SUV muddy enough to take the prize. As for Blackman, the second-place winner, he drove his Jeep down a path he takes to go cat-fishing to cover his vehicle with mud. Other FFA sponsored days at Southern Wayne last week were flannel day, farmer or livestock day, camo day, favorite tractor day and blue-and-gold day. On Thursday, Southern Wayne High School sponsored a Clean Vehicle Contest. As part of FFA week, The Southern Wayne FFA collects cans of food to jump-start UMO's Collegiate FFA spring food drive. Southern Wayne is aiming to donate 350 total cans.
