Arrest is made in shootings

The shooting of two Goldsboro women Friday evening outside the Brookside Mart at 2000 S. Slocumb St. was not a random act of violence, the Goldsboro Police Department said Monday.
A suspect is in custody.
James Nathan Crawford Jr., 19, 1713 S. Slocumb St., is charged with two counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Crawford is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.
According to a press release issued Monday by police, Crawford was known to his alleged victims.
Police say Crawford entered a 2005 Buick Ranier driven by Daniel Steven Turner, 21, of 403 S. Best St. Shelly Sue-Ann Mary Turner, 22, and Linda Louise Turner, 43, of the same address, were also in the car.
Crawford demanded property from all three occupants and then opened fire on the two women, according to the report.
Both women were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital. Shelly Sue-Ann Mary Turner was transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville where she is now listed in stable condition.
Linda Turner's condition is listed as fair.
Daniel Turner, slightly injured in the incident, was treated and released.
Crawford appeared in Wayne County District Court Monday on an unrelated traffic violation and for a first appearance on the new charges stemming from the shooting.
He is also due in court Feb. 17 and 19 on multiple charges including second-degree trespass, resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, and drug charges related to the sale of marijuana and cocaine.
