A Goldsboro woman has won one of four $100,000 top prizes in the state lottery's Jingle Big Ol' Bucks contest.
Charlette Artis purchased the $5 ticket at the Hasty Mart on North Spence Avenue. After state and federal taxes were withheld, she received $69,201.
According to N.C. Education Lottery officials, Ms. Artis was sitting at home on Friday when she scratched off the ticket. She collected her winnings Monday afternoon.
"That's a lot of zeroes," Ms. Artis said in a press release. "I had to get three other people to look at the ticket for me before I could believe it, but it finally sunk in."
She said she plans to use the money to pay bills and save for the future.
The Jingle Big Ol' Bucks game started in November and as of Monday afternoon, one of the four $100,000 prizes remained unclaimed.
According to the press release, as of September 2013, the lottery has raised more than $3 billion to support education programs.
