An arrest has been made in the investigation surrounding the Oct. 15 shooting death of Alton Leevon Fields Jr., 35, the Goldsboro Police Department said Thursday.
Today, investigators announced a second man is wanted in connection with the case.
Goldsboro police officers responding to a domestic call just after 7 a.m. in the 800 block of Olivia Lane arrested James D'Angelo Raye, 27, of 721 Olive St., for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed weapon -- a Taurus Millennium .45 caliber pistol.
Raye, previously developed as a suspect in the Fields killing, was then charged with an open count of murder and placed in the Wayne County Jail without bond, according to a press release.
A second press release, issued today, identified Lester Clinton Jr., 29, as a "second named suspect," in the ongoing investigation.
Clinton has not yet been located.
Fields was killed just after 1 a.m., a month ago today, when a knock came at the door of 1000 Devereaux St.
Fields was inside the home with two other people.
Although it was not his home, Fields got up to answer the door and was shot several times. He was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.
A secured bond of $6,500 was imposed on Raye for the weapons charges and for an outstanding arrest order for failing to appear on a second-degree trespass.
Raye is scheduled for a first appearance in Wayne County Court today.
Clinton, still on the loose, is being actively sought by police.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lester Clinton Jr. is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or text tips to 919-222-4230. Callers remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000 for information leading to a felony arrest.
