An Eastern Wayne High School senior will participate in the 2013 National Association for Music Educators All-National Honors Mixed Vocal Ensemble on Oct. 30.
Sam Childers was chosen among the nation's more than 670 high school students to perform in Nashville, Tenn.
He had auditioned last fall and was chosen to perform with the N.C. Honor's Choir in Winston-Salem. His choral director, Dallas Montague, helped prepare a two-minute audition DVD to send to the national selection committee for the mixed ensemble.
"Sam Childers has an outstanding character and is a leader in our school's choral program. His deep bass voice enables our chorus to be able to perform musical arrangements that would not be possible without his deep rich voice," Montague said. "We are excited to have him represent Eastern Wayne High School and Wayne County."
