Four local nurses make list

Four nurses at Wayne Memorial Hospital have been named to the state's Great 100 Nurses list.
This is the 25th year for the Great 100, which not only recognizes those who have made contributions to the profession, but awards scholarships for nursing education in the state.
This year's representatives from the hospital are Kim Kennedy, Susan Peacock, Sherry Rogers and Lori Tillman.
Ms. Kennedy, a registered nurse, is a member of the hospital's health promotion team and a school nurse at Grantham School. She has worked at Wayne Memorial for 15 years, having earned an associate degree in nursing from Wayne Community College and a bachelor's degree from Mount Olive College. She is also a nationally certified school nurse.
Ms. Peacock, clinical educator for the hospital's intensive care unit, post-anesthesia care unit and cardiovascular care unit, began working at the hospital in 1995. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from East Carolina University.
Ms. Tillman, an occupational health nurse in the hospital's health promotion department assigned to Mt. Olive Pickle Co., began working at Wayne Memorial in 1982. She earned an associate degree in nursing from James Sprunt Community College and is a registered nurse and certified occupational health nurse. All three women were among a group of 10 nurses recognized by the hospital in 2012 with Excellence in Nursing awards.
Ms. Rogers, director of staff development for the hospital, holds an associate degree from WCC, a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master of arts in education from ECU.
