Curtis Construction workers remove siding from the Wayne County Jail. Renovation to the jail began Jan 2 and will last for four months. County commissioners agreed to a $1.5 million budget amendment to pay for the project. Major renovations were necessary because the roof has experienced leaks in some interior spaces. County officials hope that the roof projects and other renovations will keep the jail in good enough shape so that the county will not have to build a new $50 million jail.
