A couple charged with murdering the man's sister have been indicted by the Wayne County Grand Jury.
Jurors found there was sufficient evidence to proceed with first-degree murder charges against Gary Arthur Metzger, 55, and his wife, Ann Metzger, 34.
They are charged with killing Jean Hubbard, 66, of Goldsboro, in July 2011.
The two were arrested after a short manhunt through Goldsboro that eventually led lawmen to a mobile home at 146 Country View Road. The two were discovered hiding in the woods nearby.
Ms. Hubbard's body was found in a shallow grave about a half mile from the mobile home, covered by leaves and other debris. She had been reported missing several days earlier.
Metzger reportedly admitted to police that he killed his sister in his home and stuffed her body in a closet overnight. The next day, the body was wrapped in a sheet and moved to the nearby wooded area, where investigators found it.
Police said they also found evidence that the Metzgers used Mrs. Hubbard's ATM card to remove money from her bank account.
Mrs. Hubbard had previously taken out a restraining order against her sister-in-law.
