Eastern Wayne senior receives second award

An Eastern Wayne High School senior recently awarded a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has received a second prestigious award to the university.
Marques McPhail was selected to receive the Joseph E. and Grace Needham Pogue Scholarship, based on achievements in leadership, academics and citizenship.
The scholarship is in the amount of $9,000 per academic year and is renewable for up to three years of undergraduate study.
He plans to attend UNC to major in political science and pursue a career as a lawyer.
McPhail and Zacchia Cobb, valedictorian of her class at Goldsboro High School, were also among 1,000 students across the country to be awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship, covering college costs through undergraduate and graduate programs.
