A man steps through a hole cut in a fence at WT's Guns on U.S. 70 West early this morning.
An early morning break-in today at WT's Guns has resulted in the theft of 12 firearms.
Wayne County sheriff's deputies said an alarm was triggered at the store, which is located at 115 Centura Drive off U.S. 70 West, at 4:32 a.m. when an unknown number of suspects entered through a side door.
The deputies said the suspects first cut through a fence on the east side of the building, avoiding the razor wire lining its top, to enter the parking lot. They are still determining how exactly the suspects gained entry through the door, since they took all of their tools with them.
Deputies also said they were not surprised the suspects were able to escape before they arrived.
"It doesn't take long," Det. Sgt. Rick Farfour said.
Taken were three 9-mm Sig Sauer P250 handguns, each valued at $780; seven .45-caliber Sig Sauer 1911 handguns, each valued at $1,400; and two .45-caliber, H&K UNP fully automatic sub-guns with suppressers and folding stocks.
However, Maj. Tom Effler said it was still unknown if the H&Ks were fully operational or if they were simply collector models.
According to the report, the H&Ks were hanging on the wall, while a rifle was used to smash the top of the glass case holding the 10 handguns.
Also according to the report, there is video footage from inside the store of the suspects running to and from where the guns were taken, and video footage from a nearby business of a suspicious vehicle in the area prior to the break-in.
