Fremont Chief Paul Moats' reflection is seen on the Law Enforcement Memorial Monument at Wayne Community College as he salutes his fallen law enforcement comrades.

The Law Enforcement Memorial Service, which was held Wednesday, honored the memory of all peace officers who have died in the line of duty. More than 160 officers sacrificed their lives in the line of duty in 2011 -- seven of whom were North Carolina law enforcement officers. Ten officers from Wayne County have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty since 1900.
