After months of delay, the demolition of the Gold Inn & Suites began Wednesday. The building was condemned by the city in October 2010. Concerns over the presence of asbestos led to the delays, but work has begun and is expected to take only a few days. The structure was damaged beyond repair in a windstorm that struck the county in August 2007. Four people were injured when the motel was hit.
