Civil War re-enactor Frankie Laurent demonstrates how to make candles at the Bentonville Battleground Historic Site on Saturday. Re-enactors showed visitors how residents would have prepared for Christmas in the mid-19th century by making candles and other decorations, using berries, popcorn and pieces of paper to create ornaments for a Christmas tree. The Harper House kitchen was decorated with period-style holiday decorations and hot cider was available to add spice to the occasion.
