A 32-year-old man was murdered early Saturday morning in Mount Olive.
Edwin Alexander Sura-Cruz was found dead in his home at 598 Waller Road about 2 a.m. by Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputies who responded to an assault call.
A suspect in the killing, Carlos Antonio Bran Calderon, 24, of Timothy Street in Dudley, was taken into custody after a manhunt of about eight hours.
For the first two hours, the Sheriff's Office used canine officers in an attempt to track the suspect, but Calderon was not found until a concerned citizen reported a suspicious man walking near a wooded area off of Waller Road.
Deputies responded and placed Calderon under arrest about 10:20 a.m.
The suspect is being held at the Wayne County Jail without bond.
The state Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death, investigator said, but, at this time, it is not believed that any firearms were used in the assault.
