Evan Sutton helps with the start of tobacco harvest Monday on the farm of his father, Ron Sutton, and his grandfather Jerry Sutton near Seven Springs. Their farm is on Piney Grove Church Road about a mile north of Seven Springs. All across Wayne County, farmers are beginning the annual rite of plucking the leaves for curing. Wayne growers have planted about 9,000 acres of "the golden leaf" this year.
