Shooting sends man to hospital

Goldsboro police investigate the scene of a shooting in the parking lot of the Wilco-Hess service station at the intersection of U.S. 70 West and Claridge Nursery Road on Thursday night.
A man wanted for skipping bail was apparently shot Thursday night by one of two bail bondsmen at the Wilco-Hess station at the intersection of U.S. 70 West and Claridge Nursery Road.
Darryl Williams, 22, of South John Street was wounded in the buttocks and was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital after Goldsboro police arrived on the scene.
He was not taken into custody after being treated and released.
The two bondsmen, David Marshburn of Smithfield and John Deans, Zebulon, had staked out a vehicle owned by Williams that was parked at the station when he arrived in another vehicle.
According to Goldsboro police, the bondsmen approached Williams, who tried to escape. They tried to block him from getting away and one of them shot into Williams' car, striking him. Which man fired the shot was not immediately clear.
Investigators said this morning that the bail bondsmen face possible charges related to the shooting.
