Two Goldsboro High School students have been charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds.
Jonathan Sean Davis, 18, of Poplar Street, took a revolver to the high school last month after bringing the gun from home.
He has been charged with possession of a weapon on educational property.
Johnnie Lee Sutton III, 18, of Hollowell Avenue, allegedly stole Davis' book bag, which contained the firearm, on April 11, Goldsboro police investigators said.
Sutton has been charged with larceny of a firearm and possession of a weapon on educational property.
Police officials said it is unclear whether Sutton knew the firearm was in the book bag at the time of the theft.
Officials with the Goldsboro police say the revolver belongs to Davis' grandmother, Geraldine Brunson, who shares a home with her grandson.
Ms. Brunson contacted police on April 13 and reported the gun was missing and her grandson as a suspect.
Davis was arrested April 19 and released into the custody of his grandmother, according to police reports.
Sutton was arrested Monday at 7:45 p.m. and placed under a $3,000 unsecured bond. He was released shortly after his arrest.
Both Davis and Sutton turned themselves in at the Magistrate's Office.
