Reg Freemyer
Freemyer, 50, is a native of Oklahoma and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He was formerly advertising director for the Courier-Tribune in Asheboro before coming to Goldsboro.
A former publisher and advertising director of several newspapers in Oklahoma prior to moving to North Carolina 11 years ago, Freemyer has more than 30 years of experience in newspaper advertising sales. He also is a graduate of the American Press Institute.
He will direct all advertising sales for The News-Argus and its digital and print products, The Mount Olive Messenger and the Wright Times.
Freemyer and his wife, Carla, have two children: son Evan, who is a sophomore at Appalachian State Univer-sity, and daughter Erin, who with her husband, Jason, live in Chapel Hill. The Freemyers just welcomed their first grandchild, Julianne, five months ago.
Freemyer said he enjoys playing golf and SCUBA diving in his free time, in addition to rooting for his alma mater.
"We are extremely happy to have Reg on board," Tanner said. "His experience will give The News-Argus the leadership needed for us to remain competitive in an ever-changing market. We are looking for great things from him and his staff."
Freemyer said he is excited about moving to Goldsboro and taking over the reins of the advertising department at The News-Argus.
"To be at a family-owned paper is refreshing," Free-myer said. "My hope is to bring my knowledge to this market to help our sales staff succeed in all the various products we sell."
"Goldsboro has a lot going for it, both retail-wise and with all the restaurants here," he said. "It's nice to be in a progressive and vibrant newspaper market. I think there are a lot of cities that would like to emulate what Goldsboro has to offer."
