Isaiah Strozier, a member of the Whitley Mime Ministry, mimes the pain a child feels when he or she is abused during the Life L.I.G.H.T.S. for Children event at the Berkeley Mall. The event sponsored by Wayne County for Children Council and WAGES, remembered the 17 children who died at the hand of a parent or caregiver in North Carolina in 2009-10 and children who have suffered abuse. Last year, 53,441 cases of abuse or neglect were reported in North Carolina, organizers said.
