Aktion Club President Rhonda Barwick shows former club president Ryan Hood the human relations award the service club was awarded by the city of Goldsboro. The Aktion Club is a Sunrise Kiwanis-sponsored service organization for people with physical or mental disabilities, allowing the members to give back to their community. The club is run by individuals with some sort of disability, teaching members leadership skills and how to conduct a meeting. Some of the club's activities include a fundraiser to combat juvenile diabetes and donating to the Pennies from Heaven effort. The group also plans and takes educational trips. The meetings are open to anyone who has a disability in Wayne County and are every second and fourth Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Goldsboro Recreation Center.
