Lawmen discovered a "one-pot" methamphetamine lab at 266 Ivey Lane near Pikeville on Wednesday morning.
The State Bureau of Investigation was on the scene by Wednesday afternoon, combing the home for evidence, Wayne County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Chris Peedin said.
"One-pot" or "shake 'n bake" methamphetamine is a resurgent and dangerous method of making the drug, investigators said.
The chemicals to make the drug are placed in a bottle, typically a two-liter soda container, and mixed inside.
Peedin said on Wednesday afternoon that a bottle had been discovered at the site.
"An actual one-pot bottle is what we found. We're still in the process of getting everything. The SBI's in there right now, and they're doing inventory and collecting evidence," Peedin said.
As of this morning, the Sheriff's Office still had not released the name of the suspect in the case. Peedin said he expected the man who lived at the home to be charged in connection with the methamphetamine operation.
"One-pot" operations are a dangerous practice, lawmen say, because the flimsy structure can lead to pressure explosions of the bottle, possibly shooting flames outward if they rupture.
