Heather Smith of C.H Stables on Old N.C. 111 South puts out hay for horses late Monday afternoon. The recent stretch of low temperatures has forced people with pets or livestock to take extra precautions to protect them from the cold. Temperatures are expected to moderate somewhat over the next few days, with highs in the 50s.
