When it comes to summer in the South nothing captures a better picture of tradition and heritage than cropping tobacco. However, that picture is changing. Tobacco trucks with their burlap sides pulled first by mules then by tractors gave way to manual harvesters and now to automatic cropping machines like this one being operated by Severjano Miranda. Miranda was working in a field belonging to Vic Swinson on Pineview Cemetery Road.
