Authorities raid meth lab home

Full SizeAuthorities allege a Goldsboro man had a methamphetamine laboratory and one marijuana plant growing in his Dakota Avenue home.
Gregory Scott Harrison Jr., whose age was not available, and Cindy Li Stevens, would face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, Cpl. Christopher Peedin said.
The Goldsboro-Wayne Drug Squad spent much of Thursday taking methamphetamine-making equipment out of the home on a dirt path off of Stronach Avenue not far from Wayne Community College.
The drug agents had the equipment laid on grass far away from the home, including tubing and soda two-liter bottles used to make the illicit drug.
Peedin said precursor chemicals were also found inside the home.
"That's a little more than just precursors, there," Peedin said of the two liter bottles. "Those are parts of a methamphetamine lab."
The corporal said he was not yet sure yesterday if the lab was a "one pop" operation, where all of the chemicals are apparently mixed in one bottle, or a more complex operation.
The drug officers said they had to let dangerous fumes evaporate from inside the home's interior after the two suspects were taken into custody.
"You've got to let it ventilate before you go in," Peedin said.
Harrison and Ms. Stevens came under law enforcement scrutiny after previous meth-related arrests, Peedin said.
Around 4 p.m. on Thursday, officers said they were waiting for a State Bureau of Investigation clean-up crew to remove the rest of the lab.
An external garage would also be searched more thoroughly after an initial scouring of the building came up empty.
Peedin also said an undetermined amount of methamphetamine was found.
