Two people were arrested Tuesday in connection with a bungled robbery of the Hampton Inn on Spence Avenue while a third suspect was cleared of possible involvement in the crime, Goldsboro police said.
Alysha Jeannette Williams, 20, of Vanderbilt Circle, and Jonathan Glenn Sinclair, 16, were both charged and jailed for their alleged involvement in the robbery.
They face two counts each of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, Sgt. Chad Calloway said.
Both Ms. Williams, held on a $200,000 bond, and Sinclair, with a $500,000 bond, were expected to make a first appearance in court today for the charges.
Police had said they were looking for a third man, Gary Harvey, 19, of Flamingo Drive, but said Tuesday he is no longer considered a suspect.
A video camera showed three people entering the business at the time of the robbery attempt and investigators said they still believe another person or persons were involved.
"I'll just say that I feel pretty confident that there more than likely will be an additional charge to come, and at least a third (suspect)," Calloway said this morning. "I'm not so sure about a fourth, but I wouldn't rule that out, either."
Two clerks were shot during the attempted robbery last Thursday, and are recovering. One victim was shot in the leg and the other in the buttocks, authorities said.
