HS seniors set to turn their tassels

Three private schools and an early college high school will say goodbye to the Class of 2009 this week.
Wayne Country Day School kicks off the commencement season, with ceremonies Friday at 11 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The school has 17 candidates for diplomas.
Two students will serve as co-valedictorians. Ellen Elmore plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she will study political science and Spanish. Will Nolan will be going to the University of Southern California, and has not declared a major.
Also speaking during commencement will be Diane Price, chairwoman of the English Department and class adviser.
Friday evening, ceremonies will be held at Faith Christian Academy at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. There are 24 in the graduating class.
Valedictorian is Lindsey Godwin, who plans to attend Campbell University and study pharmaceutical sciences. Salutatorian Bethany Dale, who will be going to Bob Jones University, has not declared a major.
The Rev. Dann Patrick, Faith pastor, will also speak during the graduation service.
Ceremonies at Wayne Christian School will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the school gymnasium, with 18 candidates for diplomas.
Valedictorian Allison Rose plans to attend N.C. State University and study biology. Salutatorian Ryan Clarke intends to study engineering at Liberty University.
The Rev. Fred Clifford, administrator emeritus, is also on the program to speak.
Wayne Early/Middle College High School, on the Wayne Community College campus, has 26 students graduating this year. Ceremonies are planned for Thursday evening, May 28, at 7 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium. Several student speakers will be on the program.
