Seven pounds of meth found in Fremont

FREMONT -- A Fremont area man is being held under $1 million bond in the Wayne County Jail after he was found with almost seven pounds of methamphetamine at his home Monday, the Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.
Feliciano Salinas Gonsalez, 34, of Hooks Road, permitted officers inside when they knocked on his door early on Monday, a person close to the case said.
A call to the Wayne County Crime Stoppers hotline assisted in the arrest, authorities said.
The officers had no difficulty in either locating the meth or in apprehending Gonsalez.
"It was uneventful. He let (officers) come in and talk to him," the source said.
Although Gonsalez did not immediately reveal the hiding place of the drugs, the potent smell that meth carries quickly drew officers to a bedroom dresser.
"You could just tell," where it was, an officer involved in the case said. "You could actually follow the smell pretty easy."
Gonsalez also was in possession of rifles, which is illegal because he is not a legal resident of the United States.
Methamphetamine is a dangerous stimulant drug produced in clandestine labs from household chemicals. The labs are prone to explosion and can give off noxious fumes, vapors and gases.
Because street chemists can vary in skill and technique, law enforcement officials warn that any number of chemicals may pollute the drug.
