Heroin and money seized, couple arrested

A couple who share an apartment on Evergreen Avenue were arrested Monday after a vehicle stop on North Berkeley Boulevard, police said.
The Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad, which teams together Goldsboro police and the Sheriff's Office drug agents, stopped the two in their Chevrolet on North Berkeley Boulevard after an investigation had begun, according to a narcotics corporal.

Phillip Lamar Austin, 26, and Tameka Shanta Goldstone were both jailed under $750,000 bonds after law enforcement seized about 56 grams of heroin and $3,000 in currency from them, according to the police report.
The corporal confirmed that both Ms. Goldstone and
Austin were in the car when the arrest occurred.
Ms. Goldstone and Austin told police they were a couple, the narcotics corporal said.
Investi-gators would not comment about the length of the investigation or facts not pertaining to a news release because the two arrests are part of an ongoing investigation.
Future arrests related to the investigation are a possibility, the narcotics corporal said.
